Tests and vaccinations

Updated 24 January 2022

Free asymptomatic COVID-19 tests

Free COVID-19 lateral flow testing is now available to everyone in England. All staff, students and postgraduate researchers are asked to take two tests each week to help prevent transmission of the virus.

Lateral flow home test kits can be collected from the LUU helpdesk or the Laidlaw, Edward Boyle, Brotherton and Health Sciences libraries. Supply is limited, so please only take what you need. Kits are also available from local pharmacies or they can be ordered online from the GOV.UK website.

Reporting you have COVID-19

If you are self-isolating or have had a positive coronavirus test, you must let us know through visiting our reporting you have COVID-19 page so we can arrange support for you.

COVID-19 vaccines are effective. They can keep you from getting and spreading the virus that causes COVID-19 and can also help keep you from getting seriously ill even if you do get COVID-19. We encourage students, both UK and international, to get vaccinated against COVID-19. You do not need to wait to be contacted by the NHS. We also encourage students to get the booster jab as soon as you are eligible.

Our COVID-19 vaccination information, provides you with details on how you can book a COVID-19 vaccination as well as answering some of the most frequently asked questions on the topic of vaccinations.
