COVID-19 vaccines are effective. They can keep you from getting and spreading the virus that causes COVID-19 and can also help keep you from getting seriously ill even if you do get COVID-19. We encourage all students, both UK and international, to take a vaccine before returning to studies.
All adults aged 18 or over can now get vaccinated against COVID-19. You do not need to wait to be contacted by the NHS.
The COVID-19 vaccines currently available are given in two doses. You usually have the second dose 8 to 12 weeks after the first dose.
To get your vaccine you can:
- book your COVID-19 vaccination appointment online for an appointment at a vaccination centre or pharmacy
- Call 119 free of charge, anytime between 7am and 11pm seven days a week.
You do not need to notify the University if you’ve been vaccinated.
I’m an overseas student, is the vaccination I’ve had approved in the UK?
This changes from country to country. Please check the latest government guidance on quarantine and testing, find the status of your country and see if your vaccination is approved or recognised. If you need further assistance, please speak to our International Office.
Other frequently asked questions about students and the COVID-19 vaccine can be viewed on the NHS Leeds Clinical Commissioning Group webpage.
We have also created a vaccination information page for our students which provides more detailed information.
